I share with you the 12 most interesting facts about living in Russia. In particular I focus on facts related to the city of Moscow. This is a personal opinion so it may differ from others.

I've been fortunate to study in the largest country in the world. I lived in Moscow for 6 long years during my university studies. Therefore, what is written here reflects the opinion of someone who has had a lot of experiences in this wonderful side of the world.

The 12 most interesting facts are:

Ice Skating: It is well known that Russians are ice skaters par excellence, so it's not unusual to see in winter 5-year-old children learning to skate on the ice rinks.
Flowers: If you are courting a Russian girl, never give her an even number of flowers. In Moscow, an even number is used in the wakes and when you go to the cemetery; therefore, always remember to give her an odd number of flowers.
Weather: The weather in Moscow during the year can vary by more than 40 ºC. In summer, it can reach ~25 ºC, while in winter it can reach minus ~20 ºC.
Seasons: Unlike Latin American countries, in Russia you can clearly distinguish the change of seasons. In autumn, for example, you can see the leaves falling from the trees. In winter, you can see that the trees do not have a single leaf, and in spring, you can see how the plants bloom and bear their fruits again.
Metro: In Moscow, there are sightseeing tours at various metro stations. This is because they present surprising curiosities. For example, there is a station called Revolution Square (Площадь Революции, in Russian). There, you can see several dog statues, and Russians believe that if you touch their snouts you will have good luck. Therefore, during exams, many students go to this station to touch the snout of the animal.
Don't whistle: There is a belief in Moscow that if one whistles inside a house, it brings financial ruin to the household. Keep this in mind if a local invites you to his or her home.
Nationality: Something very curious and confusing for those who have not lived in Russia is that being born in the Russian Federation does not make you Russian. In Russia, being Russian is more of a race than a nationality.
Character: Most people think that Russians are always serious and that when they speak they seem to be shouting. Well let me tell you that it's not true. Although it is true that the pitch of the language seems to be rude, Russians are quite friendly and open to foreigners, so you could easily party with them.
Honesty: Once I was walking down the street and when I took my phone out of my pocket, without realizing it, my wallet fell out. A man who was passing by picked it up and instead of taking it with him, he handed it back to me with all the documents and the money.
Public transport: The public transport system is made up of buses, trams, trolleybuses, and metros. You could say that the tram is a metro on the surface. The trolleybus is like a bus, but the difference is that the trolleybus does not use fuel, instead it is connected to the city's electricity cables; however, in recent years, due to environmental reasons, the new buses do not use fuel either and are known as electric buses (Электробус, in Russian).
Technology: Moscow, in contrast to other European cities, is very advanced in terms of technology. For example, in any shop, no matter how big or small it is, I never had problems paying by card. Moreover, in the public transport you can find free Wi-Fi and even places to charge your phone. And in the stations, you can see digital screens indicating how long it takes for the bus, tram or trolleybus to arrive.
Foreigners: There is a large number of foreigners who come to Russia for a better future. These people come from countries that belonged to the Soviet Union, such as Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
